Last week was the 22nd edition of 100% Design at Olympia London.
In such an amazing venue with so much to see and do, this year for us was even better than last year.
It was our 2nd time in the emerging brands section and having had a whole year to plan as opposed to 2 weeks last year, we felt at home and we fit in nicely amongst the other emerging brands on display. Our stand came together just as I had seen it in my head!
For the first time we got to showcase our luxury silk cushions! The feedback was amazing and we really made an impression. We were located right next to the auditorium which brought heavy footfall as well as having the advantage of being able to see and hear the fascinating talks by influential leading professionals in the design industry from all over the world.
Below is a taster of what was on show this year.
The show opened with a fascinating talk by Asif Khan, Asif Khan’'s London-based architecture practice was founded in 2007. Works range from cultural buildings and masterplans to houses, temporary pavilions, exhibitions, installations and products.
The talks covered a variety of topics but the ones that caught my attention the most were the PechaKucha on Thursday evening and the discussion with Ron Arad and Zinoo Park.
The PechaKucha presented five speakers each talking about one of the five senses. The style of presentation meant that each topic was kept short and to the point, accompanied by slides. I found it most interesting.
Ron Arad and Zinoo Park were also interesting as the concept of OLED lighting is fascinating, being light generated from a surface rather than from a particular point and as such, is flexible. We were shown many of the creations and light sculptures that this medium has been used for. At the end of that talk, we could exchange a business card for a bag containing an OLED kit which we still have to try out!
I hope those that attended the 22nd edition of 100% Design, we will be there again next year 20-23rd September 2016!... stay tuned!
